Clayton Kaiser - Winter Warmer Music Series 2019

Clayton sweats and bleeds country music. Raised in the Pacific Northwest, his childhood of cloudy hikes and Methodist choral rehearsals forged a songwriter with a penchant for RocknRoll and the outdoors. His range falls between growling baritone and howling tenor, in the same vein as his songwriting heroes, Johnny Cash and Hank Williams. With biting cynicism and heavy-handed lyrical work, Clayton is gnawing his way into a long career in music.

Dann Conn - Winter Warmer Music Series 2019

Dan Conn & The Travelin' Kind is a band founded on friendship and a passion for good music. And what started as just an occasional Sunday afternoon jam session has solidified into a authentic americana rock band. Inspired by musicians ranging from Bruce Springsteen, The Band, and Neil Young, Conn says he has always been inspired by "songwriters who write about real life" - which is evident on the bands self titled release. The album which was released in October is full of roots rock songs that reflect simple honest about life, love, and the pursuit there of.

The band is made up of drummer Heath Stone, bassist Adam Humphrey, and guitarist Andy Mullins, as well as Conn himself. Together, they have the momentum of a Steve Earle and The Dukes record with lyrical background of a John Hiatt. Conn writes songs about his life, but they always seem to reach further. For example, "Josie Sings The Blues" might have started with inspiration from his black lab but has become a song about how music connects people through a "high and lonesome sound." Lyrics like "Sing a song about reception or that old time religion... or a song about a train or that ol Kentucky rain... O Josie, won't you sing me the blues" engage the country songs that have come before, but not in a way that feels like a throwback. Conn has a relationship with these old songs and they represent warmth and comfort as they do with so many fans. This is what makes Dan Conn & The Travelin' Kind stand out: they work within the genre and honor what came before, all the while creating new songs for audiences to sing along with.

Year of October - Winter Warmer Music Series 2019

Year of October is a Rock band based in Nashville, TN. Founded in 2010 while members Phlecia and Josh were attending the University of Kentucky. Year of Octoberstarted out as an acoustic singer/songwriter group, but soon made the transition to a full band which completed their truly unique sound.

Their dedication and love for their craft shines through in their first album “Stories” released in early 2012. With influences from The Black Keys and Led Zeppelin to Norah Jones they are led by bluesy vocals, strong lyrics, and roaring guitars that create a sound reminiscent of the 70s but making it all new.

They worked for two years on their next release and put out their second record, “Golden Days,” in October of 2014. They developed their sound and really toned in their own brand of fuzzy rock. They continued to perform live as often as they could for the next two years and they began working on their third release in 2016.

After three years of playing live and working on new tunes they released their third record “Trouble Comes” on October 31st, 2017. This is their hardest rocking record yet and boast lots of dirty riffs and dark grooves to go along with their deep and powerful vocals. Be sure to be on the lookout for them to be on tour in the next coming months.

"Paducah, Ky., singer and guitarist Fate McAfee’s 'Preacherwoman Blues' is, as the title hints, a clean and simple blues. McAfee’s laconic vocals and steady fingerpicking are magnetic, and his easy delivery imbues the song’s character with a mischievous sensibility and depth."

Vedra - Winter Warmer Music Series

Nashville-based Vedra is playing the third show in our Winter Warmer Music Series:

Genuine and honest. Two words that describe not only their approach to music but who they are as individuals. Vedra has successfully crafted a soulful blend of vigorous beats and shamelessly honest lyrics borrowing notes from artists like Against Me, Twenty One Pilots and Dashboard Confessional. The duo pulls together the visceral styles of lead singer Branon Jaggers with the classically trained ears of percussionist Kirby Newman providing a final product rich with emotion and logic.

Vedra’s debut self-titled EP, released in 2016, has aired on over 50 radio stations nationwide so far. In the Summer of 2017 the EP charted on KSYM in San Antonio, TX, KWLC in Deborah, IA and WFCF in Saint Augustine, FL. Their debut EP along with their upcoming single “Smoke & Mirrors” were recently picked up for licensing by MTV, Discovery Channel, TLC, Animal Planet, Velocity, and the Oprah Winfrey Network.

They are currently working on writing and recording their sophomore EP that’s shaping up to be the best representation of their sound as a collective thus far.
